Brittany & Colin’s Vermont wedding is one that will forever be one of my favorite weddings. Not only was it absolutely stunning – look at those colors and all the handmade decor! – but it was my first “real” destination wedding (outside of California) and I AM HOOKED! I first met Brittany in San Francisco when her and her girlfriends moved in below me and mine. Jack and I spent the next few years getting to know Brittany & Colin as an awesome, creative, adventurous couple, so when they reached out asking if I would be at all interested in flying to Vermont to photograph their day, I was STOKED. I had always wanted to to go Vermont, and photographing a wedding there in September made it even more of a bucket list dream. Colin & Brittany met at Middlebury and wanted to tie the knot at a friend’s family’s property about 15 minutes away from the town. I spent the first day exploring the area – I hiked Snake Mountain which provided beautiful views of the patchwork quilt farms in the valley below, drove around the back road scoping out dream farms, and walking around the quaint little town. It felt like a dream to be able to explore an area and ALSO photograph a beautiful couple- I was on cloud nine the whole weekend.
My favorite thing about their day was all the thoughtful, BEAUTIFUL handmade details that Brittany and her friends and family made – the invitations that her mom and dad made were unbelievable (just look at that program!!), the beach wood that Brittany collected for the signs, the smoked salmon that Brittany’s family caught and smoked themselves and the hand-made Alaskan kelp salsa, the New Holland beer that was brewed by Colin’s cousin, the heart shaped rocks that they had collected, and the gorgeous flowers that Brittany’s friend had done for them. By adding details that truly reflected who they are, Brittany & Colin created a wedding day that was full of love, comfort, and so so SO much fun.
Brittany & Colin, thank you so much for having me document your day and for including me in your entire wedding weekend. It was so much fun photographing you two and your day and I feel SO LUCKY to know you two! YAY MARRIAGE!
