I'm Anna, a family, newborn, and intimate wedding photographer based in Marin County, and I still can't believe I get to call this my job.
Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my dad rarely went anywhere without a camera around his neck, documenting every milestone, vacation, and wonderfully awkward stage of childhood. Looking back, those photographs are some of my family's greatest treasures, and they're a big part of why I believe so deeply in preserving memories.
I picked up my first film camera in high school and quickly fell in love with the art of telling stories through photographs. While studying at UCLA, I interned as a photographer for the student newspaper, and after graduation, I combined my passion for storytelling and education by working for the nonprofit Junior Achievement, where I photographed events while also serving as a grant writer.
In 2013, I officially launched Anna Marks Photography, and over the past 14 years I've had the privilege of documenting hundreds of weddings, families, newborns, businesses, and life's biggest milestones. While my career began in the wedding industry, my own life naturally shifted my focus. Becoming a wife—and later a mom—gave me an even deeper appreciation for the everyday moments that become our most cherished memories. Today, I specialize in family and newborn photography, while continuing to photograph a small number of intimate weddings each year.
My husband, Jack, is my high school sweetheart, and together we're raising our three wonderful kids—Zoe, Woods, and Teddy. After living throughout the Bay Area and spending a short chapter in Europe, we're grateful to call Marin County home again. You'll usually find us exploring local trails, visiting the beach, chasing little feet around the playground, or soaking up the beauty of this incredible place we get to share with our children.
These days, I photograph families with the perspective of both a photographer and a mom. I know just how quickly childhood changes, and I don't take for granted the opportunity to preserve this season for the families who invite me into their lives. My hope is that the images we create together won't just remind you what these years looked like, but exactly how they felt.
One of the greatest privileges of my job is being invited into life's most meaningful chapters.
For more than 14 years, I've had the honor of documenting love stories—from the excitement of a wedding day to the beautiful, busy years that follow as families grow. It's a perspective that has shaped not only the way I photograph, but the way I see the world.
Life moves so much faster than we expect. The wedding day you've spent months planning becomes an anniversary. Tiny newborn fingers become little hands reaching for yours. Children grow, grandparents grow older, and the everyday moments quietly become the memories you'll treasure most.
That's why my approach has always been about more than creating beautiful photographs. It's about preserving the feeling of this season.
The way your partner looks at you when no one else is watching. The laughter that erupts when your kids forget they're supposed to smile for the camera. The comforting squeeze of a hand, the joyful chaos, the quiet in-between moments that often become the ones we miss the most.
These are the moments that tell your story.
Whether I'm documenting one of the intimate weddings I photograph each year, or a family enjoying a slow evening together, my goal is always the same: to create timeless images that feel genuine, joyful, and full of connection.
