A YEAR IN REVIEW // OUR LIFE IN 2018

FILED IN:

Personal, Year in Review

What a whirlwind of a year! This year was packed with SO many amazing shoots, TONS of fun time spent with friends, and quite possibly our busiest travel year! We had so many fun adventures and made a ton of great memories with our loved ones. It was a year of personal growth – getting used to our lives in Oakland and exploring a ton – and professional growth – shooting a TON of new work and lots and lots of beautiful weddings. Get ready for an overflow of crappy iphone photos below!

January

We started the year off with a sunrise hike on mount tam to welcome the new year. It was so cold and dark but SO worth it! We spent a lot of time exploring our neighborhood and going to the farmers market, and a had a lot of cozy nights at home with lots of reading, puzzling and coloring. I traveled to Palm springs for a gorgeous wedding and had a some extra down time to explore Joshua Tree for the first time! I then jetted down to San Diego for a quick conference and had a beautiful City Hall wedding.

February

We started february with a gorgeous hike along the Dipsea Trail on one of our free weekends. My best friend Lauren asked me to be her bridesmaid and we found her the perfect wedding dress. I went on a beautiful mid-week hike with my paps, and obsessed over the beautiful light in my cozy office. I spent a lot of time networking with amazing creatives in the wedding industry. We started some morning traditions – pastries and reading in our cozy breakfast nook, and explored new neighborhoods in Oakland. We jetted off to Park City for a long, snowy weekend, and I worked (and drove)  A LOT. We had lots of dinners with friends and Jack showed off his stellar rock collection 🙂 I then jetted off to Cancun for a work trip, but couldn’t wait to get back home to my love and our nightly traditions of yummy meals and reading.

March

March involved mid-week walks with besties, weekends adventuring in Point Reyes with my love, and a super fun weekend in Santa Cruz for our friend’s bachelorette party! I also turned 30! And Jack surprised me with the most amazing dinner party with our best friends. It was an incredible evening and I was so surprised and felt so loved! We went on lots of gorgeous hikes in the East Bay, lots of neighborhood walks, and I went through my old film photos from high school! We got a BBQ for our back porch and had lots of porch dinners with friends.

April

I discovered some funny home videos from when my sister and I were growing up, helped my mom sort through her crazy attic, and we had a beautiful easter at my mother in law’s house. I finally cut my hair short (and loved it!) and we went to the Vance Joy concert at the Greek Theater. We celebrated our friend Steph’s bridal shower, and I took a hand lettering workshop at a cute creative store on Peidmont. I relaxed on our porch A LOT and read a TON of books. I then jetted off to Hawaii for work for a week and soaked up all the adventures and sun.

MAY

In May we helped our friend’s Tony & Steph get married at City hall, then jetted off to Mexico to celebrate with them at their wedding! It was such a fun weekend in the sun and such a beautiful celebration of their relationship. We spent a lot of time walking the rose garden in our neighborhood because it was in full bloom, had yummy dinners with friends, and went to another friend’s wedding!

June

In June I jetted off to Monocco for a work trip and it was quite the adventure. When I got back we spent lots of time with friends and then we we spent a week in Park City adventuring. At the end of the month we headed up to Tahoe for a long weekend for a wedding (and some play!)

July

We spent July 4th weekend with our favorite friends at their families home in Lake Almanor and it was such a blast. We spent a lot of time in our garden (/back porch). We headed down to LA to celebrate my sweet cousin’s wedding), and spent a lot of time walking our beautiful neighborhood. I started an elimination diet to try to figure out why I was feeling so crummy, and went to a super fun networking event with my girl Christina.

August

In August I read one of my favorite Books (Less) and we decorated our place a tad more. We walked Lake Merrit and I went to my first Tuesday’s Together meeting after years of telling myself I would go. I did lots of fun shoots outside of weddings, and we explored our neighborhood a bit more. At the end of the month I threw my bestie Lauren a bachelorette party in the Wine Country and it was so much fun! We then celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary with a yummy dinner at our favorite restaurant, Homestead.

September

September was a blast with TONS of travel. We went to Ireland with Jack’s family for his parent’s 60th birthdays and it was so much fun being back there with Jack! I went straight to Monaco again for another work trip and then went to our friend’s wedding as soon as I got back!

October

October was filled with lots of friend time after tons of travel and a crazy wedding season. We went to the Film Festival in Marin and saw Free Solo, then sent an amazing weekend with some of our favorite friends at Muir Beach and their home in Mill Valley. We spent a weekend in Carmel for a wedding (and some fun!) and finally celebrated my bestie Lauren’s wedding!! We made sure to spend lots of time together during cozy mornings exploring my favorite book store and eating lot of pancakes 🙂

November

In November I shot my last wedding of the season, then the Bay Area was affected by more fires in the wine country. I jetted off to Park City for a commercial workshop with Lizziography, which was so much fun to learn a new part of the industry. Jack came to meet me in Park City for the weekend. We spent a beautiful fall weekend in Marin for thanksgiving with lots of cooking and beautiful hikes.

December

We celebrated my sister’s birthday, and we celebrated our sweet friend’s baby shower! We then jetted off to Park City for the christmas holiday, where we tried cross country skiing (and loved it!) had dinners with friends, and went on lots of snowy hikes. It was a pretty wonderful way to end our busy and amazing 2018!
